Mirrors Edge Catalyst Beta Review

Mirrors Edge Catalyst Beta

Mirrors Edge Catalyst is the Reboot of the popular "Mirrors Edge" which was released in 2008. Even 8 years later the game still brings that same Parkour feeling no other game can. And i Love it! Game will release on PC , PS4 And Xbox One.

Campaign
I have only played a little bit of the Campaign since that's all the Beta offers. But so what from what i have played it seems Solid. This Isn't a sequel or a prequel to the first game. It is a whole new Rebooted story. Faith is back and we are put into gameplay with her straight after she is releases from Prison. And will continue as she goes to battle with Gabriel Kruger After she steals some very Important stuff.

GAMEPLAY
The first Mirrors Edge Controlled pretty well in my Opinion and This game just Improves it a lot more and its SO SMOOTH! The mix of old Gameplay mechanics and new ones goes really well. stuff like Combat rolling and coiling up in the air when you jump are still here But only through skills.

Combat in this game is Heavily changed over the first one. Unlike the first one you cannot pick up any weapons and only rely on Faiths hands And skills. The removal of guns doesn't really matter though as your hands and legs are powerful enough. Mix this in with The new Movement system and you have a pretty new solid Combat system. While running you have the option to just push enemies out of the way or land on them after a big jump To make sure you are always in motion and not Stopping and losing that momentum.

EXTRA STUFF
The game seems to offer a lot to do. Even in the beta you have plenty too do. Ranging from doing time trials to Delivery Missions. These can be really fun at times especially when you wanna change up the tone from just running around. You can also create your own time trials and upload them for others to play.

In my opinion just from the beta this game gets at least a 8.4 Jump of faiths out of 10.

Mirrors Edge Catalyst Will Release fully on June 7th  for US and June 9th for Europe.

Resident evil 0 Remaster Review

Resident evil 0 was originally released in 2002 on the Nintendo GameCube. a few years later it was ported to the Nintendo WII. But This year RE0 finally jumped off the Nintendo train and made it onto most platforms.. ..except Nintendo ones.

Resident evil 0 Remaster is similar to the Original Resident evil remake remaster But  a lot better.
This time the Graphic upgrade is very obvious and makes it look like a lot more effort was put in.
The pre-rendered backgrounds are re-rendered and just look incredible compared to the old ones.
The player models also got a big update and also just look amazing.

Campaign
Resident evil 0 follows the story of Rebecca chambers (well known for her appearance in Resident evil 1) As she makes her way into the Ecliptic Express. A train that is Packed with zombies. On her journeys shes runs into Billy Coen a death-row inmate.

The story follows these just 2 characters as they end up in a Umbrella research labatory and fight there way through several B.O.W'S. and Unlock the secret to what umbrella has been doing.

GAMEPLAY
Gameplay In RE0 is like RE1 and Revelations 2 Combined! It has the old classic camera and shooting style from RE1 but also has the Interchangeable Characters from REV2. Possibly the worst part about RE0's gameplay is the removal of item boxes. It was just silly to remove such a needed feature. Without the item box it gets to the point where both of your inventory's are full and you need to pick up an item to proceed And you cannot. So you must drop a few items and leave with the new one.. ..And probably never go back for the ones you dropped.
Character switching works well in this game. But i feel like this game would benefit so much from CO-OP and would be so much fun to play with a friend.
As mentioned the game Looks amazing as you play through it. But what ruins this is the re-rendered cutscenes. i understand that they couldnt do much with them But they just look so out of place here. And the in-game models and textures look better then the actual re-rendered cutscenes.

EXTRA MODES
The game comes with 2 Extra modes.

  • Wesker mode
  • Leech Hunter mode
Lets start with Leech hunter mode. Leech hunter mode sends both characters out into the game to find several Different coloured leaches. This mode is pretty fun and can sometimes be pretty intense with the enemies.

Next is Wesker mode. Wesker mode is bassicly just campaign where instead of Billy.. Its wesker,
Rebecca also has a fancy new costume to match wesker.

Wesker has Several powers ranging from Dashing to Lightening eyes. and this can make him Pretty fun to play as and kinda Overpowered. DC Douglas also came back and recorded new lines for Wesker mode. Even if they are just Little ones. But it is a little weird seeing Rebecca call Wesker "Billy"

DLC
The game has a total of 4 Purchasable DLC costume Pack. Most of these costumes are either from Concept art or Other games Like The Mercenaries 3D. The costumes Look coll But are really just there for If you want too look cool while playing the game.

OVERALL RATING
The game gets a 7 out of 10 from me.

The game looks incredible and also is just such a fun game. although stuff like the removal of item boxes does make me mad i can look past it.

Resident Evil : Revelations 2 Review

Resident Evil Revelations 2 was released in February 2015. originally debuting on pretty much every platform at that time, even the PS Vita!

The game is a sequel to the original Revelations which was released on the 3DS and then ported later to consoles and PC.  The game launched in episodes over a 4 week period which actually worked well in my Opinion. all together their was 4 main episodes and 2 extra episodes adding up to several hours of gameplay.

CAMPAIGN
There are 2 campaigns in every episode.

The first campaign starts When Returnee Claire Redfield and The potty mouth daughter of Barry Burton, Moira Burton Get kidnapped and taken to a abandoned prison full of monsters.

The second campaign features Barry Burton as he searches for his daughter on the island. He is partnered with a little girl Called Natalia Korda Who has the power to see enemies through walls.

The story isn't that bad With several plot twists and even 2 endings. depending how you handled a event in the game you would either get a good ending or a bad one. Both endings seem to hint to a sequel But i guess only time will tell. The game is also PACKED with References from Past titles which im sure the old RE lovers would Enjoy!

GAMEPLAY
Gameplay In revelations 2 is quite different to past Resident evil Titles. Just like Revelations 1 there is no online co-op for Campaign But there is co-op using split screen. But you dont need a buddy to play as Player 2. The game has interchangeable characters during live gameplay abit like RE0. this can work quite well in combat as you can stun a enemy as one character and do a follow up with the other.

In both campaign the secondary player can not use guns. Claire and Barry handle the guns while Moira uses her trusty Flashlight to stun enemies and her Tough crowbar to whack them. While Natalia uses her reliable finger to point out enemies to Barry and she can even use bricks to hurt the enemies or Break locks. Both the Secondary are also used to find items, they are abit like a Human Genesis which appeared in the first revelations. this can become quite annoying to switch characters just to find items and mostly left me to just use the secondary characters most of the time.

The game Uses a skill tree and you can spend BP you find ingame to upgrade and buy new Skills.
I would have preferred a Skill point type of thing Like Tomb raider uses.

RAID MODE
Anyone who played revelations 1 Should be familiar with raid mode but if not ill explain it.

Imagine Mercenaries without a timer and you need to open doors with keys you unlock by killing enemies. and instead of characters having Specific loadouts you get to customize everything about it, from your Guns to your skills and even the Mad gestures Raid mode uses.
Every character you encounter in the campaign can be used in Raid Mode and even ones not from this game make a cameo. Leon , Jill and Chris are all free characters you can unlock by meeting certain Criterias.Albert Wesker and Hunk Are Paid DLC you will have to buy. I would have loved to have seen other characters make a comeback for raid mode too Like Sheva or Kirk!. <3
The game Has micro-transactions But are Not needed to play. all the stuff you can buy can be earned by just playing the game. In my opinion i dont see why you would need to buy any but hey if you need to then go ahead,

The game also tries to sell you something called a "Throwback Map pack" which is a bundle of 4 Raid mode maps. they are maps taken from RE6 and Revelations 1. But that seems to be what most of raid mode is. Just A collection of RE6 and REV1 Stages which is very annoying as Revelations 2 Had some perfect scenes for raid mode stages But they are not used.

OVERALL RATING
the game gets a score of 7.5 Moist barrel of fucks out of 10 from me.

It mixes alot of old mechanics together but also adds in new ones which work very well. the enemies are very well made and animated and they are not too difficutlt if you know the right Way to kill them.

but a lack of Revelations 2 stages for raid mode and a weird skill system makes me remove a few points.

Resident Evil 6 XBOX ONE/PS4 Review.

Resident Evil 6 is the Sequel to the very popular "Resident Evil 5". Resident evil 6 was released on October 2nd 2012, Originally on Xbox 360 and PS3. Capcom Then released the PC Port 5 months later.

The Xbox One and PS4 Version is basically just a port of the PC version with few Changes.
This version includes "The Mercenaries No mercy" which is a harder version of the original Mercenaries. Originally exclusive to the PC version No mercy mode Ups the enemy count from 150 too 300! and can lead to some really dicey but fun games. The PC version of No Mercy mode also included the 4 L4D2 characters and 2 enemies But they do not appear in this new version.

The new Xbox One/PS4 versions runs at a 1080p with a very stable framerate of 60fps even with alot of enemies/Action on screen. the game also just looks nice and feels so smooth compared to the 360 And PS3 Versions. As too when compared to the PC version its pretty Much the same.

The game has few changes But some of them are for the best. Increased QTE Times, optimized button/key mappings, option to turn on auto-action for certain QTEs, time limit extension for certain action scenes and better vehicle controls.

The game also comes with a new "Cycle mode" which will put you into a random Lobby for the Gamemode it is Recommending. Whether it is Onslaught or Campaign you are guaranteed to find a lobby.

Matchmaking also seems to be no problem on the PS4, But XBOX ONE is a different story it seems to be totally different. When you search for a lobby on the PS4 it will give you a list but on XBOX ONE it just puts you into a random one. Hopefully, this is just a bug and will be addressed soon.

The PS4 and XBOX ONE versions comes with all past DLC and RE.NET exclusive costumes.

RE6 is now Available on XBOX ONE & PS4 for £15 , $20 , €18
